Professor Richard Head is the recently appointed Director of the Sansom Institute for Health Research at the University of South Australia. His career achievements have included establishing Australia’s most comprehensive collaborative endeavour to tackle Alzheimer’s disease and founding the nation’s largest research grouping in early detection of colorectal cancer . Ewart Shaw spoke to him suggesting that at a time when anyone else might have sat back in the garden and said ‘ job well done’ he’s taken on a major new enterprise. What does he see are the challenges for the institute?
